About the Artist:
Ben Lavitt co-founder of Astra Photo Service, the first professional custom photo lab in
Chicago, he is looked upon as the "Grandfather" of the industry. He sold his lab and took the reins for twenty-one
years as president of Gamma Photo Labs, Midwest's largest commercial photo lab.
Based on his many years of
experience in advertising and photography, Ben has served on numerous photo-judging panels, conducted seminars, and is a consultant to
publishers and writers on the uses of photography in their publications. Beyond his proven business acumen, Ben
is blessed with a keen eye for composition and pictorial content that has allowed him the opportunity to personally
print for some of the country's top photographers, including Ansel Adams, David Eisenstad, Burt Glinn,
Art Shay, Archie Lieberman, and others.
After
leaving Gamma, he consulted with other companies in the photographic arena for several years. Recently, Ben made
the decision to devote more time to his photographic art. He has integrated traditional photography and digital imaging
into his photography to make it an art form.
His Photographic Art have taken hold quickly and are already in retail
locations and used by a number of Fortune 500 companies. He has won top honors in art competitions and his Art is in many corporate
and private collections.
